Operation Helping Hand Tampa, an all-volunteer 501c3 organization, provides support and assistance to active duty service members and veterans of all conflicts post 9/11/2001 who receive care through the James A Haley Polytrauma Rehabilitation Unit.

This includes, but is not limited to, supporting therapeutic rehabilitation programs (music, art, dance, virtual reality, gaming), direct in-patient care and support for patient families.

Our goal is that over 96.5% of all contributions go directly to programs, patients and families we support.

Virtual Reality/Adaptive Video Gaming Therapy - VIRTUAL REALITY utilizes technology to address physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs of patients across the veteran population. Various Applications provide patients the opportunity to address and enhance deficit areas while promoting health and wellness.

The ADAPTIVE VIDEO GAMING program is designed to promote socialization, peer relationship development, motor skills and cognition through the play of video games. Game play is based on patient interests and abilities. Patients are screened by Assistive Technology Recreation Therapist to modify controls and game play to maximize patient function and participation

Dance/Movement Therapy - DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY is the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the ideal, for the purpose of improving health and well-being under the purview of a credentialed Dance Movement Therapist. DMT utilizes dance and movement to increase embodiment in support of both behavioral health and rehabilitative treatment goals, no prior dance movement experience necessary for beginning this type of therapy.

Creative Arts Therapy - CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY includes Art Therapy, Dance Movement Therapy and Music Therapy facilitated by credentialled professionals and integrated with the interdisciplinary treatment teams. to provide patients with the rehabilitative and psychotherapeutic use of the arts to achieve emotional, social, cognitive, and physical goals

Music Therapy -MUSIC THERAPY is provided by a board-certified music therapist to reach a necessary and medical non-musical goal through treatment planning, using patient-preferred guidance and evidence-based practices. Music Therapists support and complement active and behavioral health goals, participate in binary care, and provide access to such as listening, active music-making, songwriting, and movement.
