Whelan Insurance Group LLC – Ted Whelan
Ted Whelan is the owner of the Whelan Insurance Group, LLC.
He is a proud veteran of the US Air Force and the father of three daughters.
He understands the need for insurance in all walks of life.
While Ted could have agents working underneath him, increasing his income, he chooses not to as his name and reputation are more important to him than money.
MEDICARE
Ted specializes in Medicare. His parents were retirees from New Jersey back in the early 1990s, before Ted was in the insurance business. No one advised his parents about Medicare versus the State Retirement Plan. They wound up paying about $800 EACH for their health insurance. They could have had similar coverage for under $200 a month each by choosing a Medicare plan. Because of this, Ted likes to educate people about Medicare, whether they’re already on it or in their early 60s.
Ted’s tagline is “Because Medicare’s Confusing”, and it is. There’s Parts A, B, C, and D. There are Advantage Plans, Supplement Plans and Drug Plans. On the surface, Part A is for hospitalization, Part B for doctors and tests, Part C are Advantage Plans, Part D are Drug Plans, and there are also Supplement Plans.
Most people new to Medicare don’t know the difference between Advantage Plans and Supplement Plans. Ted receives calls from people scheduling appointments for Supplement Plans but finds out in the appointment that they were actually meaning an Advantage Plan, and vice versa.
Ted is an independent agent, writing for 16 different Medicare insurance companies. This means that he doesn’t push any one company’s policies, instead, he presents numerous options to his customers. He gets paid the same amount for every Advantage Plan, so he helps his customers make the best choice for their Medicare insurance needs.
Ted hopes people don’t buy their Medicare insurance (or any other type of insurance) from the TV or the internet. Most are strictly sales organizations and don’t service their customers throughout the year, as he does.
LIFE INSURANCE
Ted also sells life insurance. Juvenile life, Term life, Universal and Whole life, Final Expense life, as well as Funeral/Burial/Cremation life insurance. As an independent agent, he has access to over 100 different insurance companies.
Many people will tell him they need a certain amount of insurance or a certain type of insurance. After meeting with them, they often realize that what they thought they needed was wrong. Ted is known to advise people to purchase less insurance than they originally thought they needed if their needs are truly less. He’s not in the habit of up-selling or over-selling.
HEALTH INSURANCE
Whether you need the Affordable Care Act (also known as ACA, Market Place, Obama Care) or short term care insurance, Ted has many options for you.
CANCER INSURANCE AND HEART ATTACK / STROKE INSURANCE
As a cancer survivor himself since 2017, Ted knows how expensive cancer can be, even if you have good health insurance.
These policies are quite reasonably priced and pay out a lump sum amount between $10,000 and $50,000 upon first diagnosis.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
If you die more than 75 miles from home, your funeral home won’t come to pick your body up. Whether you’re 76 miles from home, across the country or in another country (except war-torn or unfriendly countries), this $499 one-time payment policy will take care of all the paperwork, body preparation and transportation of the body back to your funeral home for the rest of your life. Family discount is available
