GERALDINE "GHERI" HICKS
Gheri Hicks is the founder of Hicks Law, P.A. Gheri holds a Bachelor's of Arts from Florida A & M University (1993), a Juris Doctor from University of Miami (2000), and a Masters of Laws in Transnational Law from Temple University (2005).
In nearly 20 years of practicing law, Gheri has represented governmental entities, such as Polk County, Florida and the City of Dallas, Texas in a variety of real estate matters including code enforcement, land use, foreclosures, and eminent domain.
While earning her LL.M. in Japan, Gheri worked for a Japanese law firm where she helped corporate clients with commercial leasing matters.
Gheri, however, started her career working at legal aid as a AmeriCorps Housing Attorney, where her job was to help protect her clients' homes from foreclosure or eviction and educate people on their housing rights. It is this desire to help others that motivates Gheri. She has the heart of a teacher and that translates whether she is teaching her Business Law students at Warner University, conducting a seminar for her church on legacy planning, or having a cup of coffee with a client.
She is licensed in Florida (2000) and has an inactive license in Texas (2008).
In addition, she is a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Civil Mediator.
Gheri is a Plant City native and the proud mother of two adorable children.
TRANSFER PEACE SEMINARS
The mission of Hicks Law is to help you transfer peace to your family and to create a legacy. Part of that mission encompasses education. If your community group or church would like to host a Transfer Peace seminar, contact us today. Hicks Law welcomes the opportunity to give back to the Tampa Bay community.
At Hicks Law, PA we are often contacted to address an issue after the damage has been done or after a medical crisis where addressing the issue will be extremely difficult. What's worse is the solution adds more stress to an already difficult situation. We started thinking about options to help people BEFORE a situation arises.
Past Seminar: ADULTING AIN'T EASY
Adulting Ain't Easy was born out of a desire to educate 18-23 year olds on life issues before the issue arises. Hicks Law, PA has gathered industry professionals to provide information for young adults to discuss information we all wish we would have known when we were young adults.
This event is for 18-23 year olds and their parents. The event will answer such questions as: What to do in a car accident? How to address privacy issues of a new adult? How does FERPA or HIPPAA prevent a parent from accessing information about their adult child? What are the basic steps to establishing credit? How do you budget and save on a limited income? What are your rights if you are ever arrested? How do you engage with law enforcement?
