Unlike traditional roofing companies, we do not install roofs or sell roofing systems.
Our role is to represent the homeowner, provide unbiased guidance, and ensure roofing decisions are based on facts, documentation, and quality, not pressure or sales tactics.
Founded by James Ponton II, known locally as "The Roof Inspector," Roof Advocates of Tampa Bay was created to address a common problem homeowners face: not knowing who to trust when it comes to their roof. Roofing is one of the largest and most complex investments a homeowner will make, yet many homeowners are forced to make decisions quickly, often without fully understanding their options.
Our mission is to change that experience through education, documentation, and advocacy.
Our process begins with a complimentary on-site roof inspection performed by a trained Roof Advocate. During this visit, we assess the overall condition of the roofing system, identify visible damage or areas of concern, and document findings with photos and clear explanations. Homeowners receive an easy-to-understand assessment so they can make informed decisions about whether repair, replacement, or monitoring is appropriate. We focus on accuracy and honesty, including identifying when a roof does not need to be replaced. When replacement is necessary, Roof Advocates of Tampa Bay helps homeowners compare options without the stress of scheduling multiple contractor appointments. We work with a network of vetted, licensed, and insured roofing contractors throughout the Tampa Bay area. Homeowners receive multiple clear, comparable estimates, allowing them to evaluate scope of work, materials, warranties, and pricing side by side. We review these estimates with the homeowner, explain differences, and answer questions so they can choose the contractor that best fits their needs. Throughout the project, Roof Advocates of Tampa Bay remains involved as an independent resource. We provide guidance during the pre-installation phase, help homeowners understand timelines and expectations, and return after installation for a final walkthrough to ensure the completed work aligns with the agreed-upon scope. Our oversight helps reduce confusion, miscommunication, and costly mistakes.
We proudly serve all of Tampa Bay and surrounding counties, including Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, Manatee, Polk, and Sarasota Counties, and assist homeowners with shingle, tile, metal, and flat roofing systems, including TPO and modified bitumen.
