Late last year, I was honored to be invited to serve on the Board of Directors of the Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce (TIMB Chamber).

RGA founder Mark O’Donnell

I accepted, of course, and in January I attended the installation banquet and assumed my responsibilities.

Well, “responsibility” sounds a little serious for something that’s really a pleasure. The TIMB Chamber is a “boutique” organization, one that takes a personal interest in its members, just as RGA does. It comprises about 300 businesses focusing on the south Pinellas beach communities and surrounding area.

RGA enjoys a long history with this Chamber, co-sponsoring After Hours Mixers, trade shows, mega-networking events, and fund-raisers.

We share a passion for promoting local businesses, and for continually looking for new ways to do that.

RGA benefitted from one of those efforts last year. The TIMB Chamber publishes member highlights on its website, and promotes those profiles on Facebook and Linked In. On April 30, 2018, RGA was the featured member with an article entitled, “Wall Street Marketing at Main Street Prices.”

The piece gave the history of RGA, and talked about the goals set for our organization.

Here’s how it starts:

When Mark O’Donnell laid the groundwork for Revenue Generating Activities, he introduced a fresh approach to professional business networking in Pinellas County.

“I’d had years of networking experience,” says Mark, “but most of the groups never ‘clicked’ for me.”

Some had no- or low-cost membership fees, but attracted people whose businesses were more of a “side hustle,” not their primary source of income. Other networks’ membership came at a premium, costing hundreds of dollars to join, and hundreds more to maintain throughout the year.

“They all had too many rules,” adds Mark.
