The scoop of the day

Did you know your air ducts can make you sick? Out of sight, out of mind.

MOSTLY EVERY DUCT SYSTEM IS CONTAMINATED.  A THREAT TO GOOD HEALTH.

Mold & Bacteria Love Darkness

OSHA will teach us that moisture at above 60% is required for growth, but less moisture does not mean Mold is dead, they just go dormant. When your air conditioner is running, moisture condenses on the evaporator coils, causing a growth cycle. According to Web MD, mold is the biggest threat to your health in your home and as we know Mold, Bacteria and Fungus are present in our air ducts. This can cause many different symptoms. Your allergy symptoms will be at their worst in the morning because at night, when the lights are off, the mold and bacteria floating in the air are living. (Remember, mold and bacteria thrive in darkness.) During the daylight, the live contaminants are killed by light before you breathe them.  But at night ALL BETS ARE OFF and this can wreak havoc on your health.  Some symptoms are headaches, sniffles, skin rash, memory loss, nose bleeds, eye irritation and a host of things that OSHA teaches us can be caused by Mold and harmful bacteria. Many times, we don’t recognize where our health problems originate. “Out of sight and out of mind”.

Highly recommended

Our process requires specialized equipment and training, including OSHA mold certification, and should not be undertaken without such.

First, we fog the entire system using a ULV (Ultra Low Volume) fogger, through a system intake, to kill every bacterium, virus and mold spore that the product has ever been tested on, including the corona viruses. This thyme oil product will continue to kill any contaminant that enters the system for up to 18 MONTHS.  We do not introduce brushes, wipes or high-powered vacuums into the supply ductwork as that can cause major damage to flexible fiberglass ducts and it would also release mycotoxins from the mold. This defeats the purpose of cleaning your ducts.

Tips to help prevent excessive mold growth in your home.

Make your home less mold-friendly. The key is to control the amount of moisture in the air. Dehumidifiers will help. The humidity needs to be below 60%. Between 35% and 50% is even better. You can buy an inexpensive meter to check your home's humidity at a hardware store.

Keep It Clean

Mold can thrive in warm, damp bathrooms and humid kitchens. A clean surface isn't a breeding ground, but those with a little soap scum or grease are. keep an eye out for mold in refrigerator drip pans, door seals, and garbage pails. In the Tampa Bay area, we experience a high volume of humidity.
